Bow River Eco-Float
Join Multicultural Trail Network and RiverWatch for an unforgettable afternoon exploring the Bow River from a whole new perspective.
Led by a RiverWatch guide, participants will enjoy a guided Eco-Float through one of Calgary's most peaceful and scenic stretches of the Bow River, winding through south Calgary and the beautiful Fish Creek Provincial Park. Along the way, you'll paddle while learning about the river's history, wildlife, ecology, and the important role it plays in our city.
Whether you're looking to experience Calgary from a new perspective, connect with nature, or meet other young people who love the outdoors, this Eco-Float offers a unique opportunity to explore one of the city's hidden natural gems.
What to Expect
A fully guided 2.5-hour rafting experience on the Bow River
Shuttle transportation from Fish Creek Boat Launch to the launch site
Interpretive talks on local wildlife, ecology, geology, and Calgary's river history
Opportunities to spot birds, wildlife, and beautiful river landscapes
A scenic riverside break during the float
A chance to connect with other young people while exploring the outdoors
Physical Activity
This is an active outdoor experience. While your certified RiverWatch guide will steer the raft, participants should expect to paddle during portions of the trip and be comfortable with moderate physical activity, including:
Sitting in a raft for several hours
Paddling periodically throughout the float
Walking on uneven natural terrain
Entering and exiting the raft from the shoreline
A short uphill walk (approximately 50–100 metres) at the end of the trip
This experience may not be suitable for individuals with significant mobility limitations.
